Mindinho-le-Tower, Newmarket, Suffolk

The name 'Mindinhole' was one of the earlier designations from which the name of the village of Mildenhall, Wiltshire is derived (and where the PRICEs used to ring). It therefore seemed an apposite name as the belfry floor of this custom-built Campanile is over a metre below ground level to provide sufficient rope-draught for the ring of 10 small bells which it contains -- the details of which are listed below.

Acknowledgments

My grateful thanks are due to Matthew Higby of Chilcompton, Somerset, who assisted Richard Bowditch of Dulcote, Somerset in the founding process, tuned the bells and also engineered the counter-balanced clapper assemblies. The headstocks, gudgeons and bearings were fabricated by Roger Palmer of Fordham, Cambridgeshire, to specifications supplied by Frank Price of Newmarket, Suffolk, who also designed and constructed the wheels, pulley blocks, frame and campanile structure (ably assisted by others). The ceiling bosses were turned by Adrian Blumfield of Brockley, Suffolk and the pulley-block pins supplied by Tony Mann of Narborough, Leicestershire. The ropes were manufactured and supplied by Peter Minchin of Bishop's Frome, Herefordshire. Project guidance and specific assistance on clappering was given by Tom Chapman of Marston Bigot, Frome, Somerset.

Ringers and peal-bands are welcome by prior arrangement.
